Saskatchewan was recorded during March 2003, during the damp and hopeful days between Winter and Spring, in Portland, Oregon. Here is where we list the details on how this album was recorded. The Minor Thirds are Chris Piuma (vocals, guitar, banjo, fife, percussion, keyboard) and Charlotte Wells (vocals, percussion), and they are joined this time around by Jake Anderson (backing vocals, guitar, harp, typewriter, percussion, bass), Chris Calvert (drums, backing vocals, banjo, ukulele, percussion), Ross Beach (bass, backing vocals, percussion, guitar, jaw harp), John Barrios (toy piano, percussion, trumpet), Casey Seyb (toy piano, bass), Sir Cloister Maximus III, Esq. (guitar, keyboard), Jason Aspy (backing vocals, guitar, percussion), Eric Matchett (trumpet, percussion), and Finn McCool, aged 2 (drums). These guest musicians are in the following bands, all of which are recommended: Bronwyn, Celesteville, the Tuftees, Ross Beach & the Hellpets, the Mouse that Roared, the Taken Girls, and the Raunchy Young Lepers. The Minor Thirds would like to thank everyone who played on the EP, as well as Ryan Tokola, Anne Langendorfer, Joanie Lunsford, H.A. Rey, Bryan Shurb, Sean Carruthers, Horace Mann, d.k., Jodi Turner, and also to Sarah Wilmer and Richel Martinez, who wanted to play on the album, but alas, schedules get in the way sometimes. All songs were written by and are copyright 2003 Chris Piuma (BMI). Recorded by Jake Anderson. Visit www.tapemountain.com and www.theminorthirds.com and find yourself amply rewarded. Dedicated to the good people of Saskatchewan, who are forced to put up with our errant dreams. Saskatchewan is the only province with entirely manmade borders.

about

The Minor Thirds Portland, Oregon

The Minor Thirds are sweet and sour sauce. They are agitated and relaxed, confident and insecure, weary and excited to see you. Their smile shines, like a knife. They are ambitious homebodies. They invite you in for tea and ask you personal questions that nearly make you cry. Should you laugh at their jokes? Was that even a joke? Nearly. ... more
